UX Designer & Climate Advocate

About

Mary Beth Raven has lived in Merrimack, NH with her husband Mark for the last 35 years. They raised their 2 children there. She has worked in high-tech at various companies as a user experience designer and a design researcher. She holds 8 software design patents.

Outside of work, Mary Beth is a lifelong practicing Catholic, which led her to form the NH chapter of the Laudato Si movement to protect the earth. That work, in turn, led her to other organizations such as the non-partisan group Citizens Climate Lobby.

She  coordinates the energy committee working group for the NH Network for Energy, Environment and Climate. Most recently, she is a bridge captain for the NH BRidge Brigade for Democracy.

Here are some resources and recommendations from Mary Beth for getting involved in social activism. Before diving in, Mary Beth recommends reading about the four roles of social activism — citizen, reformer, change agent, and rebel — as a useful framework for finding your place.
