Meet Dr Ummu Muazu Mayana

Dr Ummu Muazu Mayana is a medical doctor by background, with over 35 years of experience in chemical pathology and metabolic medicine. Between 1988 and December 2023, she built a wealth of experience practicing as a medical doctor, across specialties (primarily paediatrics, internal medicine and chemical pathology), geographies (Nigeria and the United Kingdom) and contexts. As a healthcare leader, she drove quality improvement initiatives, influenced health policy and contributed to research and training. For a long time, Ummu has also been involved in mobilising initiatives to support underserved populations in Nigeria and the UK with access to quality education, accommodation and healthcare. Her most recent initiative, HHN, is an integrated multispecialties healthcare facilitation and systems strengthening organisation with a focus on quality care.
