About

Dr. Chizoba Imoka is a Nigerian-born educator, policy researcher, and social innovator committed to transforming education in Africa through cultural grounding, social justice, and youth empowerment. She is the Founder of Unveiling Africa, a social impact organization that equips young Africans to reclaim their history, celebrate their heritage, and lead change in their communities.

Dr. Imoka holds a PhD in Educational Policy and Leadership from the University of Toronto. With over 15 years of experience in education leadership and civic development, Dr. Imoka has worked across Africa and North America designing curricula, advising education ministries, and training educators to make learning more inclusive and relevant. Her work centers on decolonizing education—ensuring African history, languages, and indigenous knowledge systems are central to how children learn and define success.

Through Unveiling Africa’s flagship initiatives—such as the Know Your Roots, Know Your Truth project—she is helping students and families rediscover their lineage and identity as tools for empowerment. Her vision is to see education in Africa and the diaspora become a bridge that connects children to their past while equipping them to build a more just future.

Dr. Imoka has received numerous honors for her leadership, including the Ernest D. Morrell African Diaspora Emerging Scholar Award, the Adrienne Clarkson Laureateship for Public Service, and the Illuminessence Human Rights Award. She continues to speak globally on youth agency, African-centered education, and diaspora engagement.
